EVANS, Ga. - Entered into rest on April 9, 2006 at University Hospital, Mrs. Dorothy LaVerne Speering, beloved wife of Julian Allen Speering of Evans, GA. Mrs. Speering was born in Augusta and had lived in the Augusta-Evans area all of her life. She retired from H&R Block as a tax preparer after 32 years of service. Additional survivors include her sons, Gerald A. Speering and his wife, Fran of Martinez, Frank Wade Speering of Evans, Russell B. Speering and his wife, Kimberly of Evans; daughters, Debra A. Stevens and her husband, James of Martinez, Susan J. Brown and her husband, David of Martinez, Sheryl A. Champy and her husband, John of Beech Island, SC, and Joan L. Speering of North Augusta, SC and her fianc????e, Jeffery Wittler; mother, Corrie Lee Phillips of Augusta; grandchildren, J.D. Stevens, Christopher Stevens, Ashley Stevens, Matthew Stevens, Justin Speering, Samuel Speering, Farris Speering, Joseph Brown, Brian Brown, LauraBrown, Holly Champy, Nicholas Champy, Chadwick Champy and Sarah Speering; three great grandchildren; sister, Annette Albea of Augusta. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 13, 2006, 3 P.M., at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church with Dr. David Speering and Rev. Bill Snyder officiating. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
