AUGUSTA, Ga. - Dr. Charles M. King, 64, Retired Research Chemist, died March 21, 2006, in Augusta, Georgia. Dr. King was a native of Philadelphia, PA. He earned a B.S. from Drexel University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. He had lived in the Augusta area since 1979. He began his career as a Research Chemist at DuPont in Wilmington, DE, and later relocated with DuPont / Westinghouse to the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC. After retirement, he continued his career as a Research Chemist at the University of Georgia. He also taught at Augusta Tech, Greenville Tech, and Clemson University. Chuck dearly loved and enjoyed being with his grandchildren. His family members include his daughter, Deborah L. Jaeger and husband, Ted of Alpharetta; son, David Charles King of Augusta; grandchildren, Andrew Jaeger, Hailey Ann-Marie King, Katherine Jaeger, and Alexander Jaeger; sister, Edith Bohrer and husband Jack, of Ellenton, FL. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Erwin Veale officiating.
