Roderick Odin Clay (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Roderick "Rod" Odin Clay, Jr., son of the late Roderick Odin Clay, Sr. and the late Elizabeth "Peaches" Mayo Clay, entered into rest Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Select Specialty Hospital, Augusta. Memorial services will held on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 12 noon at Platt's Belair Rd. Chapel with the Rev. Daniel M. Munn officiating. A native of Rockville, Maryland, Mr. Clay moved to Augusta in his youth to live with his grandparents, Rudolph and Willie Mae Mayo, founders and operators of Mayo Nursery and Peach Orchard. His fondest memories were of the nursery which he deeply treasured. He will be remembered as a man who had a devoted respect and love for his family. Survivors include: three nieces, Courtney Tabb Wall of Martinez, Rebecca Mayo Hinson of Grovetown and Nancy Tabb Jones of Evans and two great nephews, Nicklaus Dean McQuillan and Michael Kell Hinson of Martinez. Mr. Clay was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Clay Tabb.
