NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Funeral services for Mr. W. Sylvester Thompson, 84, of Marion Avenue, North Augusta, who died March 11, 2006, will be conducted Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock from the Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home, Rev. Jerry T. Matthews officiating. Interment in Pineview Memorial Gardens with Veterans Honors accorded by Jesse C. Lynch Memorial American Legion Post #71. Mr. Thompson was a native of Oneida, Tenn., having made North Augusta his home for the past 65 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Augusta where he served as a former Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Royal Ambassador Counselor and a member of the Sheffield Club. Mr. Thompson was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, retired from the Accounting Department at E.I. DuPont Company at the Savannah River Plant and a member of the Jesse C. Lynch Memorial American Post #71. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Gladys F. Thompson. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Jack Reynolds, Dalton, Ga.; a grandson, Patrick S. Reynolds; a brother, Jamon Thompson, Powell, Tenn.; two sisters, Ida Bell Phillips and Rosa Perkins both of Oneida, Tenn.
