AUGUSTA, Ga. - Rev. Charles Andrew Swan, 91, beloved husband of Ida Covington Swan for 46 years and one of 11 children of Sallie Wren Swan and Andrew Lawson Swan, entered into rest Friday, March 10, 2006, at Portsbridge Hospice, Augusta. Rev. Swan was a native of Wrens, Ga., having attended school there. He earned a degree in Agriculture from the University of Georgia. He taught school and was a principal before attending Erskine Seminary in Due West, S.C., and Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C. He pastored churches in Baxley, Griffin and Thomaston, Ga., and retired after being on the staff at Curtis Baptist Church in Augusta. He was a member of Hill Baptist Church and a former resident of Kentwood Home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a number of very special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today, March 12, 2006, at Way's Baptist Church, (Stellaville Community) Wrens, Ga., with Dr. Mike Ruffin officiating, assisted by Rev. George Lauderdale and Rev. Ronnie Jackson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He will lie in state at the church and the family will receive friends from 2 p.m. till the hour of service. Pallbearers will be his nephews: Jerry Swan, Richard Swan, Bob Swan, Aubrey Peterson, Andrew Swan, Jim Jones, Clint Foreman and David Kassner. Memorials may be made to the Hill Baptist Church, Augusta, Ways Baptist Church (Stellaville Community) Wrens, or to your choice of charity. James Funeral Home, Wrens.
