AIKEN, S.C. - Entered into rest on Monday, March 6, 2006, Mrs. Velma Louise Jones, of 2829 Wagner Road, Aiken, SC. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Herbert D. Jones, Sr. and a daughter, Peggy Ruth Corley. Surviving is a daughter, Helen Faulkner, Gilbert, SC; a son, Herbert D. "Sonny" Jones, Jr., Aiken, SC; two sisters, Virginia Satcher, Graniteville, SC and Mary Dunwoody, Macon, GA; a son-in-law, Tony Corley; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mrs. Jones was an active member of Redd's Branch Baptist Church and of the Willing Worker's Sunday School Class. She was an avid gardner and was known for her cooking and her flowers. She retired from Graniteville Company with 23 years of service. Funeral services will be on Friday, 3 o'clock at Redd's Branch Baptist Church with Revs. J. B. Redd and Mark Watford officiating. Mrs. Jones will be placed in the church one hour early. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Jones, Mike Turner, Mike Newsome, Tommy Blackwell, Steve Herron, Claude Free, Buddy Berry and Hubert Kneece. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Willing Workers Sunday School Class at Redd's Branch Baptist Church. The family wishes to say a "heartfelt thank you" to all of the employees at Regency Hospice who extended such loving care to Velma during her illness. Friends may call at the residence or on Thursday evening from 7 until 9 at Hatcher Funeral Home, U.S. Hwy. No. 1, Langley, SC.
