WILLISTON, S.C. - Services for Leon Haven Gainey, 66, will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 10, at Corinth Baptist Church, New Ellenton. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites Accorded. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Folk Funeral Home, Williston. Mr. Gainey died on Tuesday. Born in Walton County, Fla., he was a son of Lalar Prescott and the late Belvin Gainey. He was a businessman, owned and operated G and G Grocery, Williston. He was in the U.S. Army, the New Ellenton Masonic Lodge #389, a member of Corinth Baptist Church, where he formerly taught Sunday school and served as a Deacon. He was first married to the late "Penny" Lancaster Gainey. Survivors include his wife, Alice Owen; his mother of Laurel Hill, Fla.; daughter, Leslie G. Peavler of Augusta; sons, Gregory L. Gainey of Aiken and Craig H. Gainey of Williston; stepsons, Jeff Couvillon of Lithia Springs, Ga., Robert Couvillon of New Ellenton, S.C. and James Kendrick of Aiken; sisters, Clarice Rushing of Laurel Hill, Fla., Sheila Clenney and Ethra Lee Stewart, both of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; grandchildren, Caitlin, Matthew and Merritt Peavler and Neal Lindsey.
