Members of Aiken Woman's Club will prepare sampler plates for luncheon

The Aiken Woman's Club's 13th annual sample and share luncheon and fashion show will be at noon Saturday, March 4.

"We try to make it fun and enjoyable for the ladies in Aiken," said Rachel Pirkle, the club president.

Each of the club's 30 members will prepare two dishes for the event. "With 60 separate dishes to try, even if you get just a teaspoonful, you can't get it all on your plate," Ms. Pirkle said.

After the food sampling, club members will model fashions from Dillard's. There also will be two younger models showing children's and teens' clothing, Ms. Pirkle said.

"That appeals to ladies who have children and grandchildren," she said.

Attendees also will receive a souvenir cookbook that includes all 60 recipes featured at the luncheon

In addition, there will be three gift baskets raffled, Ms. Pirkle said. The baskets contain items corresponding to a theme. The three themes are "chocolate fantasy," " a day at the spa" and "a year of holidays."

Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

Ms. Pirkle said she expects the luncheon tickets to go quickly. Tickets are available by calling Judy Cross at 644-8837.
