Grief support

Newcomers meet

The Aiken Newcomers' Club will meet Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Houndslake Country Club, 901 Houndslake Drive, Aiken. Sporting art gala

The fourth annual Invitational Sporting Art Opening Gala will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Aiken Center for the Arts, 122 Laurens St. SW, to benefit the Aiken chapter of the American Red Cross. The show will feature original oils, watercolors, drawings and bronze works by nationally known artists. Tickets are $50 per person. Call 641-4152.

Faculty recital

The University of South Carolina Aiken's Department of Visual and Performing arts will present a Faculty Artist Recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Etherredge Center, 471 University Parkway. The program will feature baritone Isaac Holmes, violinist Laura Tomlin and pianist Mary Losey. Tickets are $8 and are available at the Etherredge Center box office. Camp meeting

The Brig. Gen. Barnard E. Bee Camp 1575, Sons of Confederate Veterans, will meet Thursday at Bobby's Bar-BQ, U.S. Highway 1, Warrenville. Attendees are asked to arrive between 6 and 7 p.m. for supper; the meeting will start at 7 p.m. There will be a guest speaker. Call 648-6072.

Fashion fair

The Ebony Fashion Fair will present Fit To Be Fabulous at 7 p.m. Friday in the Etherredge Center at the University of South Carolina Aiken, 471 University Parkway. The event will feature styles by Givenchy, Oscar de la Renta, Reem Acra, Christian LaCroix, Jean Louis Scherrer and black designers Barbara Bates, B. Michael and Tracy Reese.
