AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at Augusta Hills Health Care and Rehab, Mr. John Matthew Willoughby. Graveside services will be held on Monday, January 30, 2006, at 11 a.m. from Homewood Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pa. Mr. Willoughby was born in Prentiss, Miss. He received his high school education from Voorhees Institute and graduated from Tuskegee Institute in 1928. He worked as a linotype operator for the following newspapers: Tampa Bulletin, Norfolk Journal and Guide, the Pittsburgh Courier, and the Pittsburgh Press, from which he retired. A resident of Pittsburgh, Pa., for 53 years, he moved to Augusta in 1999 as a resident of St. John Towers and Augusta Hill. In Augusta, he became a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Survivors are his devoted sister, Samuella W. Chiles; his niece, Francene (Marvin) Mangham; his nephew, Samuel W. Chiles; and a host of other relatives and friends.
