COLUMBUS , IN - Emily Wyman Wigh, 91, of Columbus, Indiana, died at 3:25 a.m., Monday, January 23, 2006 at her Four Seasons Retirement Center Home in Columbus of natural causes. She was born to John Wesley Wyman and Alma Wharry Wyman in Derby, Vermont, May 18, 1914. She graduated from high school in Newport, her family home. Emily attended and received a degree in nursing from Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital in 1937. While in Boston she met and married Russell E. Wigh, M.D. on June 11, 1939, a graduate of Harvard Medical School. She became a homemaker after the birth of her first child in 1942. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Russell Ernest Wigh of Columbus; two sons and daughters-in-law, Russell John and Deanne Dobbs Wigh of Savannah, GA, Richard Joseph and Barbara Bonner Wigh of Columbus and a daughter, Susan Wigh Faidley of Signal Mountain, Tenn. Emily proudly watched her seven grandchildren grow and prosper and smiled often over her four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and Wesley Wyman. A family service will be held at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of South Central Indiana. Interment will take place at the Wyman plot, Derby Cemetery, Derby Line, VT at a later date.
