I simply cannot believe that the murder of millions of people in World War II justified the existence of Hitler and Mussolini, just because "the trains ran on time." That is the idiotic analogy of Jessi Heath's letter Jan. 4 ("War opponents love U.S. too"), which stated that the people of Iraq were better off under Saddam Hussein because they "had cleaner water, less widespread disease, more electricity and more rights for women before the war."
They also had the rape and torture rooms, child sex slaves for Odai and Qusai Hussein's pleasure and the untold number of mass grave sites still being uncovered. I doubt she would have enjoyed being a female Iraqi citizen during his reign of terror.
That she would trivialize a war in which American servicemen and women have honorably and voluntarily chosen to serve, while she snivels like a child, makes me sick. She tried to hide her true anti-American, anti-Bush feelings by couching her letter about the dead American military; she shames them and their families for the sacrifices they have made.
It is apparent that her knowledge of geopolitical affairs and military history is derived from left-of-center media sources that have a hard time remembering who their enemy is and who provides their safety.
After all, we have not had a successful major terrorist attack since 9-11. She would rather choke on her own bile than give President Bush, the National Security Agency and all the other tools at Bush's disposal credit for that simple fact.
In America, we go to bed every night secure in the fact we are safe from the horrors the Iraqi people knew for decades. Count your blessings.
