Broken government in Augusta needs fixing

Give me a break! Former City Engineer Teresa Smith needed to go a long time ago, and there should have been plenty of documentation in her file. Don't you remember when David Darby and other contractors appeared before commissioners last spring complaining about her and her department and all the money they were costing them? Commissioner Marion Williams, I believe this is what they call public record.

Next, don't give me that stuff about how the community didn't want change when there was a black mayor. CSRA Help pushed the Contract with Augusta while Willie Mays was mayor, and begged him to support it - and he didn't. If he had, the outcome for mayor might have been different.

Quit playing the race card and quit playing the blame game. We are losing valuable time, and other communities are passing us by at light speed.

The fact is that our local consolidated government is broken, and needs to be fixed as recommended by the special grand jury in 2004.
