CLEMSON, S.C. - Vernon Hamilton had a career-high 21 points, including four in overtime, as Clemson snapped a five-game losing streak to Wake Forest with a 74-73 win Wednesday night.
Hamilton hit two foul shots to draw the Tigers (13-3, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) within 71-70.
Then after Akin Akingbala's jam gave Clemson the lead for good, Hamilton drove right of the basket and laid the ball in over Wake defenders Eric Williams and Trent Strickland with 49.9 seconds left.
Williams followed with Wake's final basket moments later. But the Deacons (11-4) couldn't get closer. Wake opened 0-2 in the league for the first time in 13 years.
MISSISSIPPI 68, SOUTH CAROLINA 63
In Oxford, Miss., Bam Doyne had 23 points and hit two key free throws with 9 seconds remaining to lift Mississippi to a victory over South Carolina.
Auburn transfer Dwayne Curtis added 15 points for the Rebels (12-3, 2-0 Southeastern Conference).
Tarence Kinsey led the Gamecocks with 18 points, and Renaldo Balkman and Dwayne Day each had 12.
AUGUSTA STATE 71, UNC PEMBROKE 48
In Pembroke, N.C., Matt Scott scored 20 points, and Tyrekus Bowman add 15 points and seven rebounds as Augusta State easily defeated UNC Pembroke in a Peach Belt Conference game.
Karim Telfer had eight rebounds and seven assists for the Jaguars (5-7, 1-4), who led 31-16 at halftime.
UNC PEMBROKE WOMEN 70, AUGUSTA STATE 59
In Pembroke, N.C., UNC Pembroke pulled away late in the second half for a Peach Belt Conference victory over Augusta State.
UNC Pembroke led 40-32 at the break.
Alena Batovska led Augusta State with 11 points.
FRANCIS MARION 67, USC AIKEN 53
In Florence, S.C., Francis Marion rallied in the second half to defeat USC Aiken for the eighth consecutive time in the series.
Josh Poston led USC Aiken (2-9, 0-5 Peach Belt Conference) with 14 points, hitting five of eight shots from the field.
Charles Reinaldo had 15 points for Francis Marion (7-5, 2-3).

In Florence, S.C., Francis Marion's Danielle Moore had a career-high 29 points to help the Patriots dismiss USC Aiken.
Turnovers hurt the Pacers as they fell behind 21-7.
