Another racing movie is in the works.
Even as film crews work on a movie with Will Ferrell in the lead role, producer Barry Kemp has bought a screenplay for another apparent light-hearted flick.
Kemp bought a script from Jason Jordan and Matthew Lawton, who did National Lampoon's Pledge This! and Blue Collar TV.
The story is about a young racing star who loses his sponsor. He is forced to team up with a cosmetics executive in a difficult climb back to the top.
NASCAR already has been the platform for other comedic movies, including Stroker Ace and Six Pack.
TRACY CLOSER TO NASCAR: Former Champ Car Series champion Paul Tracy said he's moving closer to being a stock-car driver.
Tracy said the 2006 Indy-car season will be his last as he shifts his career to the NASCAR circuit.
"My game plan was to make the transition in '06, but it didn't come together," he said.
Tracy said he still plans to drive in 10 Busch Series races and a handful of Nextel Cup races that fit into his CART schedule before making the full-time plunge in 2007.
BACK IN BUSCH: Add Kyle Busch's name to the growing list of drivers who plan to compete full-time in both the Nextel Cup and Busch circuits this year.
Busch will drive the No. 5 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports after that racing organization dropped its driver development program.
"It's good to be back in the Lowe's Chevrolet and back full time in the Busch Series," Busch said. "Hopefully we can repeat the success we had in my first season. I love the Busch Series. I know it's going to make for a pretty hectic schedule, but I'm a racer. The more I race, the happier I am."
Busch finished second in the Busch Series standings two years ago before moving full time into the Nextel Cup Series last year.
Busch, the younger brother of 2004 Nextel Cup Series champion Kurt Busch, will join Reed Sorenson, Clint Bowyer, Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards as drivers doing full-time double-duty on both circuits next year.
PIT STOPS: Larry Carter, Rusty Wallace's old crew chief, has landed a new job with Michael Waltrip at Bill Davis Racing. Carter left Penske Racing South in December ... At the same time, Kevin Hamlin left Richard Childress Racing to work with Dave Blaney at Bill Davis Racing ... Kurt Busch's court date in Arizona for reckless driving was postponed until Jan. 27.
