New on DVD

Here's a look at what's new in home DVD and video release, and a calendar of what's coming:

WEDDING CRASHERS (NEW LINE, $28.98): Last year's comedy smash crashes onto home video with a full buffet of DVD extras. Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn star as divorce mediators whose social life centers on infiltrating strangers' weddings to score with women, their game turning sour when Mr. Wilson's character falls for the daughter (Rachel McAdams) of the U.S. treasury secretary (Christopher Walken) at one of their matrimonial bashes. The DVD is available in the R-rated theatrical version or an "Uncorked" unrated edition that adds nine minutes (though the unrated DVD has both cuts, so there's no reason to buy the R-rated disc). Extras include a handful of deleted scenes, including a hilarious one in which Mr. Wilson and Mr. Vaughn serenade wedding guests with Nena's 1980s hit 99 Red Balloons. The two actors also provide commentary, and director David Dobkin offers a commentary track, while the DVD includes an amusing list of the characters' rules for crashing weddings. A sampling: "Bridesmaids are desperate - console them," "You're a distant relative of a dead cousin," "Always have an up-to-date family tree" and "Never hit on the bride! It's a one-way ticket to the pavement."

THE CAVE (SONY, $28.95): Hollywood went all the way to Romania to bore us with this derivative monster flick. Cole Hauser, Morris Chestnut, Piper Perabo and Lena Headey lead the cast as members of a scientific team getting picked off one at a time by ravenous, toothy things that live in an underground ecosystem beneath a forest in eastern Europe. The DVD has commentary with the filmmakers, a making-of feature and a segment on the design that went into the various life-forms in the cave.

THE GOSPEL (SONY, $28.95): Boris Kodjoe, Clifton Powell, Idris Elba and Nona Gaye star in this musical about a singer who leaves behind his faith and his father's church after the death of his mother, only to return years later for an inspirational reunion that could lead to redemption. Writer-director Rob Hardy and producer Will Packer offer commentary, while the DVD includes a behind-the-scenes feature, deleted scenes and extended versions of the gospel music performances.

DUMB AND DUMBER (NEW LINE, $19.97): The Farrelly brothers' 1994 hit starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels is back in an unrated version that adds six minutes of footage. Mr. Carrey and Mr. Daniels play a pair of certified cretins who embark on a cross-country trip to return a briefcase of cash to a beautiful woman (Lauren Holly). Besides the longer cut of the movie, the DVD has about 40 minutes of deleted and alternate footage, including two alternate endings. Mr. Daniels provides an introduction to a montage of deleted material, and the disc has a retrospective documentary.

GUNSMOKE (PARAMOUNT, $39.99 EACH): To mark its 50th anniversary, the Western series that ran from 1955 to 1975 rides again in a pair of three-disc sets packing a best-of collection of episodes. James Arness stars as Marshal Matt Dillon, who maintains law and order in the frontier town of Dodge City. "Volume One" contains 17 episodes, "Volume Two" 12 episodes, and each set features episode introductions by Mr. Arness, who also provides commentary along with such co-stars and guests as Dennis Weaver, Ed Asner and Angie Dickinson.

HAVE GUN-WILL TRAVEL: THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON (PARAMOUNT, $49.99): Richard Boone stars as the gunslinger for hire in the classic Western series, whose 39 episodes from the 1959-60 season come in a seven-disc set. DVD extras include cast biographies and behind-the-scenes details on the episodes.
