AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Frances M. Wooten, of Steiner Avenue, entered into rest Friday, December 30, 2005, at her residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2006, at 1 p.m. at First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Appling, with Rev. Ricky Battle, Sr. and Rev. Dr. Robert W. Turner, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Garden. Mrs. Wooten, a native of Columbia County, was a graduate of Haines Industrial Institute. After 20 years of service, she retired from the Augusta Regional Youth Development Center. She was a member of First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Organizational involvements included Ushers' Union of Georgia, Inc., the Richmond County Schools Crossing Guards, The Amvets Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Voters Registration League (Poll Manager), Foster Grandparents Auxiliary, Senior Citizens Council and the Richmond Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. Survivors are her husband, James Wooten, Jr.; two daughters, LaVern Y. (Russell) Surrency, Jacksonville, Fla., Beverly W. Griffin, Hephzibah; one son, James Wooten III, Indianapolis, Ind.; one sister, Daisy M. (Walter) Jones, Augusta; goddaughter, Justine Stewart, Augusta; devoted niece, Mamie Rivers, Augusta; 12 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and other relatives.
