AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Elizabeth "Liz" Portwood Savage, 71, loving wife of 53 years to Calvin "Doc" Savage, entered into rest Monday, January 2, 2006, at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Hatcher, Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Pastor Billy Atkins officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Robbie Bates, Mike Prather, Joey Savage, Reed Eubanks, Bobby Niven and Tim Browning. Honorary pallbearers will be the Agape Sunday School Class and the SMART Club. Other survivors include her son, Joey Savage and his wife, Renee, of Evans; daughter, Debbie Real and her husband, William Real, Jr., of Augusta; brother, Paul Portwood of Augusta; sister, Caple Stewart of Griffin, Ga.; four grandchildren. Mrs. Savage was born in Hephzibah to the late Paul E. and Nellie P. Story Portwood. She was a member of Fleming Baptist Church, Agape Sunday School Class and the SMART Club. The family said she was a loving devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved the Lord, her family and church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Fleming Baptist Church Building Fund, 3027 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, GA 30906; or the Care Pregnancy Center, 1298-1/2 Broad Street, Augusta, GA 30901.
