Tree drop-offs

Christmas trees can be dropped off from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Sunday at the following locations: H. Odell Weeks Activity Center, 1700 Whiskey Road, Aiken; Smith-Hazel Recreation Center, 400 Kershaw Place, Aiken; and Citizens Park, 1060 Banks Mill Road, Aiken. For more information, call 642-7631.

International Club

The Aiken International Club will hold its monthly meeting at 7 tonight in Room 106 of the Penland Administration Building at the University of South Carolina Aiken, 471 University Parkway. Fred Wieland will discuss Christmas celebrations around the world. The meeting is free. Call 641-6875.

Holocaust stories

The Town and Country Club will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Etherredge Center at the University of South Carolina Aiken, 471 University Parkway. The guest speaker will be Judith Evans, a Holocaust survivor. Refreshments will be served at the event, which is free. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. For more information, call 649-9166.

Square dancing

A square-dancing class will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. beginning Thursday at 73 Indian Springs Road, Aiken. This beginners' class, taught by licensed instructor Ruth Paxton, will be 12 weeks long. Couples, singles and teenagers are welcome. The class costs $17. The first night is free. Call 642-8973.

'Backyard' show

The show In My Backyard, will be presented at 7 and 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Jan. 20 and 21 at the Dupont Planetarium, 471 University Parkway, Aiken. Tickets are $4.50 for adults, $3.50 for seniors and $2.50 for students. Reservations are recommended. Call 641-3654.

Sculpture contest

The Aiken County Historical Museum will hold its second Southeastern Sculpture competition March 18-April 23 at the museum, 433 Newberry St. S.W.. It will be a juried event with five cash awards. The deadline for entry is Friday. Entry forms are available online at www.aikencountysc.gov. The museum is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Play auditions

Auditions for Eleemosynary will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday at the Aiken Community Playhouse in the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, 126 Newberry St. Auditions are open for one female 18-25, one female 30-50 and one female 50-70. Call 648-1438.
