EVANS, Ga. - Myrtle Sophia Stenger, 90, of Evans, Ga., died Dec. 31, 2005, in Westwood Nursing Home in Evans after failing health for six months. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today, Jan. 3, 2006, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, Pa., with the Rev. Robert England officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery in Pleasant Hills. Pallbearers will be Jim Cipollone, William Snyder, Eric Snyder, Joshua Alva, Steven Siemon, Michael Siemon, Cody Aaron Shelton, Ralph Snyder, Tommy Snyder and Jeremy Alva. She was born Aug. 25, 1915, in Lowber, Pa., a daughter of the late William A. and Mary A. Ballew Couchenour. She was a hairdresser for 25 years at Myrtle's Beauty Salon in Mt. Lebanon. She later worked several years in the office of Bob Friend, then comptroller for Allegheny County. She attended Monongahela Church of the Nazarene for several years and was a member of Washington (Pa.) First Church of the Nazarene. On Aug. 1, 1960, she married Edward A. Stenger, who died May 14, 1995. Surviving are three daughters, Nancy Snyder and Arlene Sprowls, both of Evans, and Sally Mutdosch of Augusta, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Ralph, William and Tammy Snyder, Linda Boeltz, Jim Cipollone, Michelle Alva and Donna Shelton; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Deceased are six brothers and a sister. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Monongahela Church of the Nazarene, Chess Street in Monongahela, Pa., or First Church of the Nazarene, North Main Street, in Washington.
