AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Dorothy S. "Dot" Adams, a lifelong resident of Augusta, entered into rest Friday, December 30, 2005. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2006, in Westover Memorial Park with Rev. W.D. Mendum, Jr. officiating. She is survived by her stepdaughter, Mrs. E.B. Doris Freeman of High Point, N.C..; a son, Ray D. Newman, Jr. and wife, Mary, of Augusta; six step-grandchildren; and one grand-dog, Poo Pi. Mrs. Adams attended John Milledge Elementary School and graduated from Tubman High School. A homemaker and avid cook, she was a charter member of the Cooking Club of America and also a charter member of the Junior Women's Club of Augusta, serving in various capacities. She served as hostess at the former Green's Restaurant for several years and for many years subsequently served as hostess at the Town Tavern. Mrs. Adams was a long time member of the Fist Baptist Church. If so desired, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
