Protect absentee voting from fraud

The left's impassioned opposition to the simple, commonsense requirement of voter identification suggests there has been a lot of voter fraud. Why else such anguish?

However Charles Heywood's Dec. 16 letter, "Voter IDs would likely disenfranchise," has a salient point. If absentee voting is subject to abuse, the legislature should review those procedures also, and strengthen them to protect against fraud.
