AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Jerome L. Sweat, entered into rest Saturday, December 24, 2005 at the V.A. Medical Center. The funeral will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Warren Baptist Church with Dr. David Fleming officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Mr. Sweat was a native of Soperton, GA and was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was a member of Warren Baptist Church and was a member of the Dan McAlhany Sunday School Class. He was a former member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and was instrumental in its construction and organization. Mr. Sweat was a master carpenter and had retired as a cabinet maker. He was member of "Good Sams" Travel Club. He was known as "Buddy" to his brothers and sisters, "Daddy" to his children and "Pa Pa" to his grandchildren and great grands. Survivors include his wife, Katherine M. Sweat; one son, Jerome L. Sweat, Jr. (Kay) of Enterprise, Ala.; one daughter, Judy Sweat Langley of Belvedere, SC; three brothers, Edgar M. Sweat, Jr. (Helen) of Augusta, Charles F. Sweat (Elizabeth) of Chesterfield, SC and Lowell Sweat (Mary) of Greenville, SC; a sister, Eleanore Burke (Bill) of Cumming, GA; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2005 at the funeral home.
