In a Fox News Opinion Dynamics Poll, 41 percent of Democrats stated the world would be better off with Saddam Hussein still in power. Democrats, at 72 percent, say President Bush lied about weapons of mass destruction.
Republicans, at 78 percent, say toppling Saddam leaves the world better off. Republicans, at 79 percent, say the president did not lie about WMD, but used the best intelligence available.
One can make at least two conclusions from this poll. First, the self-proclaimed "party of caring and compassion" is neither caring nor compassionate. Shall we bring back the torture and rape rooms, ignore the 300,000 plus mass graves, dismiss the fact that the Kurds were used as test subjects for chemical weapons, etc., and reinstate Saddam to power and pay him reparations? Democrats think so.
The second conclusion is that most Democrats don't want to be well-informed. They believe whatever their party leaders tell them, and refuse to let facts or truth get in the way. They adhere to the party line no matter how bizarre, repugnant or ridiculous it appears to the rest of us. The Democratic Party, once a major entity, has devolved into a Marxist cult with anti-capitalism/anti-Americanism as its main themes - yet they portray themselves as mainstream Americans. Thank God they are not.
Saddam Hussein, the butcher of Baghdad, represented in court by former Carter administration Attorney General Ramsey Clark, is using the Democratic talking points as a defense. Al-Qaida leaders are now echoing, virtually verbatim, what the Democrats say - even the accusations that "Bush lied." This places the Democrats, Saddam and the terrorists squarely on the same side, pursuing their common objective of America's defeat.
Democrats may call it patriotism, but if it is not treason, then what is?
