NOTE: All the listed events are open to the public, although membership in some organizations might be required.

JAN. 7: A nature photography workshop will be held at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park, beginning at 9 a.m. Ed Belinski will help you discover the digital differences that produce better photographs. Bring your digital camera, lenses, and a tripod. Call (706) 828-2109 to register.



Georgia's Hunter Education Class will be held at Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon from 6-10 p.m. The class is free. Pre-registration is recommended at www.georgiawildlife.com.

JAN. 14: A Concealed Weapon Permit class will be held at 8 a.m. at Carolina Star Gun and Hunt Club. Instruction and firing range qualification are included. The student will have a completed South Carolina State application in-hand at the end of the session. To attend, contact Robert Brewer, (803) 649-9972.

JAN. 15: A Women's Pistol Shoot will be held at Carolina Star Gun & Hunt Club in Windsor, S.C., beginning at 2 p.m. All women 16 and older are welcome. JAN. 21: A waterfowl walk will be held at 9 a.m. at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park. Enjoy a walking/driving field trip through constructed wetlands in search of wintering waterfowl. Delight in sightings of Green and Blue-winged Teal, Northern Shoveler, Ring-necked Duck, Hooded Merganser and more. Call (706) 828-2109 to register.

JAN. 29: An archery tournament will be held at Fort Gordon's shooting range 14. Call (706) 791-5078 for more details.
