EVANS, Ga. - Entered into rest on Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at her residence, Mrs. Joan C. Allen, 70, wife of Robert Allen. Mrs. Allen was a native of New York City but has lived in Evans for the past 30 years. She was a homemaker and attended St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Family members, in addition to her husband, include her daughters, Kathie A. Hankinson and husband, Albert, of Augusta, Kelly A. Minus and husband, Cal, of Grovetown, and the late Deborah A. Dally; sons, Robert P. Allen and wife, Erika, of Hope Mills, N.C., Walter D. Allen and wife, Karen, of Belvedere, S.C., Raymond V. Allen of Atlanta, and Kevin M. Allen of Atlanta; grandchildren, Sara and Brittani Allen, Miranda and William Dally, Alexis and B.J. Hankinson, Joshua Allen, Kayla and Leeah Geeting, Carlisle Minus; great-granddaughter, Debbi Dally; sisters, Dorothy Tobin of Rio Rancho, N.M., Margaret and husband, John, McMahon of Palesades Park, N.J., Irene Hickey ofTenefly, N.J., Kathleen and husband, Louis Bredolo, of Dumont, N.J., Maureen and husband, John Ricci, of Leonia, N.J., Patricia and husband, Thomas, of S. Ozone Park, N.Y.; brother, Raymond and wife, Anne Carlisle, of Englishtown, N.J. She was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Maher and brother, William Carlisle. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Father Steve Schraufnagel officiating. Pallbearers will be David Thigpen, Chris Schmitt, James Dally, Travis Rice, G.J. West and Gary Steele. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2623 Washington Rd., Suite F-104, Augusta, GA 30904. The Vigil for the deceased will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at 7:00 P.M. with family receiving friends until 9 p.m. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907, (706)364-8484.
