MARTINEZ, Ga. - Entered into rest on Tuesday, November 29, 2005, at University Hospital, Mr. Robert L. "Bob" Hogan, 57, beloved husband of Mrs. Marlys Hogan of Martinez. Family members, in addition to his wife, include his sons, LtJG Chris Hogan, U.S. Navy (wife, Jennifer) and ENS. Jeff Hogan, also of the U.S. Navy; mother, Florence Hogan of Martinez; a brother, Tim Hogan of Columbia, S.C.; and the family Schnauzer "Max". He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Hogan. Bob was a native of Arcadia, Wis. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War with the HAL 3 Seawolves as a helicopter door gunner. He was a firefighter and EMT with the Miles City Fire Department in Montana and had made Augusta his home for the past 19 years. Bob was an Emergency Department Registered Nurse at University Hospital and the Medical College of Georgia. The last few years of his life, Bob and his wife were traveling RNs before returning to Augusta. He was proud of his two sons, Christopher, a Naval Aviator and Jeff, a student Naval Aviator. Bob was a mentor to many medical professionals and "was a lousy fisherman". He never met a stranger. They were just people he hadn't talked to yet. His sons said he was "a father that every kid hopes he will grow up to be". A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son. The family will receive friends following the service at the residence. Interment will follow in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, For Melanoma Research, 2623 Washington Rd.
