The U.S. Army Signal Corps Band will present its annual holiday concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at First Baptist Church of Augusta.
"This is the band's Christmas gift to the community," said Pat Buchholz, Fort Gordon's strategic management officer. "The community does so much for the band; they wanted to give back."
The annual holiday concert will feature Christmas and Hanukkah songs. Not only will instrumental music be highlighted, but some of the band members will sing during the event.
"There are some good voices in the band," she said.
There also will be a sing-a-long to some of the tunes.
Ms. Buchholz said there will be a special holiday guest at the concert.
The holiday concert has been a tradition for many years, she said. It moved to First Baptist Church about four years ago and said the venue is great for the concert.
"There's a lot of space. Along with the sanctuary, you have the balcony.
It's handicapped accessible," she said. "It's always so beautifully decorated. It adds so much to the performance."
The concert is free, but a ticket is needed. Ms. Buchholz said this gives organizers a good system to get a head count.
Anyone without tickets would be admitted on a space-available basis.
"Ticket holders get first seating," she said.
