AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Mary Kathryn Elliott Thompson, beloved wife of the late Charles Boisfeuillet Thompson entered into rest Tuesday, November 29, 2005. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 2, 2005 at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Rev. Martino Nguyen Ba-Thong officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn T. Thompson and Linda Thompson Gledhill and husband, Carl, both of Augusta; a son, Charles Boisfeuillet Thompson, Hilton Head Island, SC; seven granddaughters, Susan Gledhill Woo and husband Darren, Chelsey Thompson Gleason and husband, David, Jennifer Gledhill Miller and husband, George, Suzanne Surtees Ashton and husband, Scott, Kimberly Surtees Standfest and husband, Bryan, Elizabeth Gledhill Wessling and husband, Eric, and Kathryn Gledhill Christensen and husband, Michael; 14 great-grandchildren, Michelle Miller, Ashleigh Miller, Bradley Miller, Zachary Woo, Blake Miller, Nicholas Woo, Jacob Woo, James Ashton, Hudson Standfest, Claire Miller, Andrew Woo, Thomas Woo, Ava Ashton and Ian Wessling, and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Thompson McCallum of Raleigh, NC. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, her parents, Col. Walter Alfred Elliott and Faye Marion Wheeler and her sister, Patricia Elliott Lindemann. Born on October 18, 1919 in Burlington, Iowa, Mrs. Thompson was an Alumna of Augusta State University and the University of Georgia where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She was an active member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church since 1938 where she served as president of the Women's Auxiliary and the Deanery Vice President. As an active member of her community she participated fully in all of her children's school and scouting activities and was a member of the Garden Council of Augusta (Country Hills Garden Club), Augusta Women's Club, St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary Life,Retired Officer's Association Auxiliary, Hilton Head Island United Service Organization and the Augusta Country Club. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Thompson's grandsons - in-law. If so desired, memorials may be made to St. Mary's on the Hill Catholic School, 1220 Monte Sano Ave., Augusta, GA 30904 or Catholic Social Services. The vigil service and rosary will be held at Platt's Funeral Home, 721 Crawford Ave., Augusta on Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 5:00 PM with visitation following until 7:00 PM.
