NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mrs. Adelaide Merritt, beloved wife of the late Samuel Blaine Merritt, entered into rest Monday, November 28, 2005 at her residence. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 2, 2005 at the Crawford Avenue Chapel with Pastor Michael Terry and Rev. George Holcombe officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Survivors include a son, Alan Merritt (Sharon Boyce Merritt) of North Augusta; a daughter, Elaine Merritt, Martinez; a brother, Dorsey Reed (Barbara), Johnson City, TN; four grandchildren, Kellie Merritt and her fiancŽ, Patrick Gleason, Dina Holcombe (George), and Chris Thompson (Elisha); eight great grandchildren, a special niece, Whitney Johns Martin (Charles) and special nephew Jeffrey Johns (Arlene). A native of Elizabethtown, TN, Mrs. Merritt was a charter member of Fleming Christian Church and was attending Christ's Way Church. She truly loved her church and church family. Mrs. Merritt worked for United Way as an Administrative Assistant for fifteen years. She was a Field Representative for the American Heart Association until her retirement. She was a Christian, believed Jesus Christ was her Savior, she served the Lord everyday of her life. Pallbearers will be Patrick Gleason, Ryan Terry, Billy Parham, Richard Wead, Chris Thompson and Sam Franklin. If so desired, memorials may be made to Christ's Way Church Building Fund, 183 Old Wagner Rd., Aiken, SC 29801 or Fleming Christian Church, Meals on Wheels, 2526 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, GA 30906.
