AIKEN, S.C. - Anne Carey Riggs Osborne age 83 died Saturday, November 19, 2005 in Aiken, South Carolina. She was born on August 29, 1922 in Washington, D.C. She was the daughter of the late Colonel Kerr Tunis Riggs and Mary Virginia Fosdick Riggs. She graduated from Balboa High School in the Panama Canal Zone in 1939. She received a BA degree in English from the University of Georgia. She was the author of three historical novels, three histories and a cookbook. During the 1970s she was a contributing writer for

The Augusta Chronicle Herald and the Augusta Magazine. She enjoyed riding and caring for horses and spending time with her family and friends in Saluda, North Carolina. She is proceeded in death by her brothers George Meldrum Riggs and Major General Theodore Scott Riggs. She survived by her husband, Dr. Horace Henry Osborne and her five children, Lieutenant Colonel Henry Riggs Osborne of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Mary Virginia Osborne Fulton of Annandale, Virginia, Margaret Anne Osborne Henneke of Louisville Colorado, Catherine Elizabeth Osborne Mathews of Aiken, South Carolina , Dr. William Elton Osborne of Savannah, Georgia and 11 grandchildren. A family service will be held at the home of Kit Mathews in Aiken, SC. Remembrances may be sent to the Church of the Transfiguration P.O. Box 275 Saluda, North Carolina.
