Warm and fruity breakfast oatmeal is easy fix

Defeat the shivers, face cold mornings with breakfast bravado!

The following variation of classic oatmeal is so easy to make, the first effect will be a smug glow of satisfaction. The follow-up sensation of well-being will last on through the morning - as we all know, that's one of the benefits of getting a nutritious start to the day.

Hearty Oatmeal With Pears, Raisins and Pecans

(Preparation 10 minutes)

1 Bosc pear, cored and chopped

1-cup old fashioned oatmeal

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

4 tablespoons brown sugar

¼ cup raisins

2 cups water

¼ cup toasted pecans

In a large glass bowl combine pear, oatmeal, cinnamon, brown sugar, raisins and water. Microwave on high for 7 minutes or until pears are tender. Divide between two bowls, top with pecans and serve warm.

Makes 2 servings.
