The 40th annual Chitlin' Strut will be Friday and Saturday at the Salley Civic Center fairgrounds, 258 Pine St. N.W., Salley. The carnival will run from 3 to 10 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. Other attractions include a gospel concert at 7 p.m. Friday, and Saturday features a parade at 10 a.m. and the band Anybody's Guess between noon and 5 p.m. Food and craft vendors will be on hand, and a London film crew will be filming the event. A tree-lighting ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Newberry Street Festival Center, 100 block of Newberry Street. The Aiken Community Band will hold its Christmas concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Etherredge Center Concert Hall at the University of South Carolina Aiken, 471 University Parkway. The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of South Carolina Aiken will hold auditions for The Mikado at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, and Thursday, Dec. 1, on the main stage at the University of South Carolina Aiken Etherredge Center, 471 University Parkway. Five males and four females and a chorus, ages 17-60, are needed. Those auditioning should prepare a ballad from a musical or English art song and be prepared to do a cold reading from a script. A Christmas benefit concert, sponsored by the Harmony River Chorus of Sweet Adelines International, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at the North Augusta High School auditorium, 2000 Knobcone Ave. The concert also will feature the Greenbrier Elementary School choir and North Augusta High's Wings.
