AUGUSTA, Ga. - John Collins Kitchings, 59, of Brunswick,and formerly of Augusta, died November 20, 2005 at his home. A native of Augusta, Ga., Mr. Kitchings had made his home in Brunswick for the past eleven years. He owned and operated Collins Lock and Safe, Inc. Mr. Kitchings was a member of the Association of Locksmiths of America and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid fisherman, and was a member of the Independent Christian Church. Surviving are his wife, Joanne Marie Kitchings, Brunswick; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly Griffith and Gary Griffith, Augusta, Ga. and Melissa Ridener and David Ridener, Brunswick. His mother, Eris Kitchings Wertz Rayfield, Augusta; his mother-in-law, L. Marie Cowan, Brunswick; grandchildren, Taylor Ridener and Landry Ridener, Brunswick; five brothers, Leslie E. Kitchings, Mervin Tilton and Pete Wilcox, all of Augusta, Leonard Kitchings, Walterboro, S.C. and Tom Harris, Brunswick. The funeral will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Pastor George Evanson officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Wade Oglesby, Dalton Allison, Leslie C. Kitchings, Mervin Tilton, Pete Wilcox, David Lampp and Mike Kitchings. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
