AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest at St. Joseph Hospital on Sunday, November 20, 2005, Mr. Robert E. "Bob" Ducey, SR., beloved husband of Betty Hester Ducey of Martinez, GA. Mr. Ducey was a native of Savannah, Ga. and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Ducey was a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology. He was a member of the Yellow Jacket Football Squad, the Wrestling Team and of Sigma Nu Fraternity. After graduation he was employed by Ford Motor Co. of Atlanta. Mr. Ducey moved to Augusta in 1964 and was associated with Walker Ford for 20 years. He was President and owner of Ducey's Automotive, Inc. of Martinez. He was past President of the Augusta AMBUC's Club, a member of the Irish American Heritage Society and a member and leader of Cursillo. Mr. Ducey was a member of St. Mary On-The-Hill Catholic Church were he served as a Eucherist Minister and a member of the Visitation Committee. In 1961, Mr. Ducey received a special Apostolic Blessing from Pope John XXIII for his work with Resurrection Catholic Missions in Alabama. Mr. Ducey enjoyed working with children and coaching in football, baseball and track. In the 70's he coached the Jr. ABA basketball team winning two national titles. In addition to his wife survivors include his sons, Robert E. Ducey (Marcia) of Augusta, Patrick M. Ducey (Dana) of Evans and John A. "Tony" Ducey (Danita); grandchildren, Melissa Ducey Remy (Leonard) , Joshua E. Ducey , Lauren Ducey, Zachary Ducey, John Ducey, Jr.and Austin Ducey; brothers, Dr. Frederick E. Ducey of Ridgeland, SC and Dr. James E. Ducey of Savannah, GA and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at 12:00 Noon at St. Mary On-The-Hill Catholic Church with Rev. Martino Nguyen Ba-Thong and Rev. P. James Costigan celebrants. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and James E. Ducey, Jr. and Leonard Remy. Honorary pallbearers will be all Cursillo Members. Interment will be at Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends tonight, Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home with the Vigil for the Deceased beginning at 7:00 P.M..
