AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Edith Chavous Widener, beloved wife of the late Mr. N. Francis Widener, Jr., entered into rest on Saturday, November 19, 2005 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 2220 Walton Way, Augusta with Rev. Mary Kollarik officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Survivors include two sons, Donald Frank Widener and wife, Gail and Nathan Lee Widener and wife, Pam both of Augusta, GA.; a daughter, Julie W. Baxter and husband, William E. of Las Vegas, NV.; a brother, Robert L. Chavous of Augusta, GA.; nine grandchildren, Christopher L. Widener, Donald F. Widener, Jr., Ryan M. Widener, Matthew G. Widener, Alana R. Widener, Nathan L. Widener, W. Nathan Baxter, Tiffany B. Stifer and Ashley L. Baxter; two great grandchildren, Bryden T. Baxter and Amberlyn G. Widener and number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Widener was preceded in death by a sister, the late Mrs. Lorraine Penn. A native of Augusta, Mrs. Widener was Retired Owner of Widener Arms. She graduated from University of Georgia, where she earned a Registered Nurse degree and attended the Medical College of Georgia. Mrs. Widener was an active member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church, where she attended Turner England Fellowship Sunday School Class. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Widener's grandsons. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 245 Main Street, White Plains, NY 10601.
