Prevent one-continent government

Key officials are planning to merge Mexico, Canada and the United States into a North America government. They deceptively call the plan Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America.

In his June testimony before the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Dr. Robert Pastor (Council on Foreign Relations) referred to this plan as "Building a North American Community." President Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Martin, and Mexican President Fox have agreed in principle to the SPP.

The SPP calls for amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants, destruction of remaining border security between the three nations, and huge amounts of U.S. aid to bring Mexico's economy more in line with its northern neighbors. Further, security for the perimeter of North America would become a merged responsibility, tentatively under the Department of Homeland Security. Security at our borders with Mexico and Canada would be essentially nonexistent.

Some promoters have called the SPP "NAFTA plus" while others deem it the next step toward their goal of the Free Trade Area of the Americas. Dr. Pastor confirmed (after praising NAFTA results) in his June testimony that the SPP is the logical next step. The text of Pastor's testimony can be read at: www.cfr.org/publication/8173/. To those who have studied the rash of false "free trade agreements" and destructive CFR proposals, it is clear that SPP would be another step toward eventual approval of the FTAA, which would amount to a European Union-styled super state for North and South America.

Despite the posturing we saw recently surrounding the Summit of the Americas in Argentina, the FTAA is far from dead. Those working to abolish the USA are patient and quite adept at orchestrating false opposition to achieve their goals. We must keep pressure on Congress to defeat all attempts to approve the SPP and the FTAA.
