ATLANTA - Anthony Morrow led a balanced attack with 15 points as Georgia Tech's five new starters rolled to an 80-52 season-opening win over UNC-Asheville Friday night.
Jeremis Smith had 14 points with nine rebounds and center Ra'Sean Dickey added 12 points for Georgia Tech, which had five players score in double figures.
It was the Yellow Jackets' 12th consecutive season-opening victory. Georgia Tech lost five seniors and a junior from last season's 20-win team.

IN CULLOWHEE, N.C., DWAYNE DAY SCORED 18 POINTS AND THE GAMECOCKS WENT ON AN 18-4 SECOND-HALF RUN TO GIVE SOUTH CAROLINA A win over Western Carolina.
Tre Kelley scored nine of his 15 points during the run for South Carolina (1-0). Tarence Kinsey added 14 points, Antoine Tisby had 12 and Renaldo Balkman scored 11.

MELANEY DENSON AND LATOYA DENT HAD 12 AND 10 RESPECTIVELY FOR SOUTH CAROLINA STATE.
USC AIKEN WOMEN 70, TAMPA 59
IN AIKEN, AVONTE WILLIAMS HAD 18 POINTS AND SEVEN REBOUNDS TO LEAD USC AIKEN OVER TAMPA.
Allee Mindy scored 15 and Meredith Legg and Satu Leppanen chipped in with 10 each for the Pacers (1-1).
USC Aiken collected 30 rebounds and also got 17 points off the bench.

IN COLUMBIA, JUNIORS LAUREN SIMMS AND MELANIE JOHNSON HAD 12 AND 10 POINTS AND SOUTH CAROLINA EASILY OPENED THE SEASON WITH A WIN OVER HIGH POINT.
Demetress Adams had a double-double for the Gamecocks, with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
