ATHENS, Ga. - Entered into rest on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at her home in Athens, Mrs. Mildred B. Williamson, widow of Sgt. Joseph T. Williamson. Mrs. Williamson was born in Ft. Pierce, Fla. in 1923, grew up in Washington County, Ga. and came to Augusta in 1942. She spent her life in Augusta working at Western Union, First National Bank and Ft. Gordon. She retired from Civil Service in January 1985 and lived in Martinez until 2005 when she moved to Athens to live near her son. Mildred is survived by four brothers, Tim, Jack, Bob and Farris Brantley; two children, Lynne and Gene Barnes; her husband's son and his wife, Bill and Sherry Williamson; two granddaughters, Nicole and Revery Barnes; two step-grandchildren, Cory Williamson and Cara Atkinson; one great-granddaughter, Kate Monahan and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 17, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. C.W. Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the Martinez Community Center, 191 Baston Rd., Martinez.
