AUGUSTA, Ga. - Deacon James Edward Wheeler, of Douglas Street, entered into rest Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at the University Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 12, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Franklin Covenant Baptist Church, Hephzibah, with Rev. George A. Williams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Wheeler was a native of Richmond County, member and Deacon of Franklin Covenant Baptist Church, Hephzibah, retired civil service employee from Ft. Gordon after 20 years, and U.S. Army Veteran. Survivors are his wife, Ella Mae Wheeler; two daughters, Leah Joyce Whitaker and Vicky (Vincent) Howard, Sr., both of Augusta; one brother, Dea. Henry (Elessie) Wheeler, Hephzibah, Ga.; five sisters, Dora (Willie) Elim, Beatrice Gantt, Ola Mae Johnson, Geneva Roberts and Carrie Wheeler, all of Augusta; five grandchildren, Darrell Whitaker, Marurice Whitaker, Janet (David) Jones, Jerimoine (Michelle) Howard, JaVinceia Howard; ten great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
