AUGUSTA, Ga. - Luther Ward Owens, Master Sergeant, U.S. Army, retired, passed away on November 8, 2005 after an extended illness. Mr. Owens was a veteran of World War II and Korea. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Joint Services Commendation Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. He was retired from Dillard Paper. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; son, Zachary; daughter, Brenda Haney; brother, Oliver W. Owens; special friends, Christi Braswell and Gabriellen Sharpe; and several nieces and nephews. His body has been donated to the Medical College of Georgia and memorial services will be held at a later date.
