Richmond County Department of Family and Children Services will hold an Employment Intervention Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at May Park Recreation Center, 622 Fourth St. Employers attending include A Child's Dream Child Care & Learning Center, Georgia Department of Labor, Goodwill Industries and Kelly Services. Santa Claus is here

Santa Claus arrives today at Augusta Mall, 3450 Wrightsboro Road. The event kicks off at 4:30 p.m. with Magic with a Twist on the lower-level performance stage by Sears. Santa's arrival parade starts at 7 p.m. in front of American Cafe. Call 733-1001, ext. 7020.

'Joe Turner' reading

A staged reading of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson's play Joe Turner's Come and Gone will be held at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday in the conference room of the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History, 1116 Phillips St. A reception will follow the reading. Theater production

Fort Gordon Dinner Theatre will present Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None on Friday and Saturday in Building 32100, Third Avenue, Fort Gordon. Doors open at 6:45 p.m., dinner begins at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. The buffet menu includes roasted pork loin with spiced apples, mesquite baked chicken and marinated bourbon flank steak. Reception for art

There will be an opening reception for the artwork of Beverly M. Diabetes lessons

Exhibits and classes offering free blood-sugar screenings and the latest information on diabetes will be available from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Warren Baptist Church, 3203 Washington Road. There also will be physicians, certified diabetes educators and registered dietitians who will answer questions. More than 30 exhibitors will display the latest diabetes products. Essay contest

The Richmond County Public Library will hold a Daughter of the American Revolution essay contest workshop at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Maxwell Library, 1927 Lumpkin Road. Book presentation
