Nation is sliding toward socialism

Norman Thomas, six-time candidate for the president of the United States on the Socialist Party ticket, said, "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until America will one day be a socialist nation without knowing how it happened."

When Mr. Thomas was asked why he didn't run for the seventh time, he replied that it wasn't necessary because both Democrat and Republican parties were carrying out the socialist program.

In 1959, Nikita Khrushchev, dictator of the Soviet Union, made the following statement: "We cannot expect the American people to jump from capitalism to communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of socialism until they awaken one day to find they have communism."

It's very seldom a day passes that some organization is not reporting a grant that they are receiving.

The examples are countless. In the past week or so, federal grants were awarded to the Open Land Trust, the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and the National Wild Turkey Federation. Nowhere in our Constitution will you find these grants authorized. Check it out for yourself; Article 1, Section 8 listed those things that Congress is authorized to finance.

My friends, we are being deceived. Every elected official has taken an oath to defend and uphold the Constitution of the United States. We, as citizens, need to learn and understand the Constitution for ourselves, and demand that our elected representatives stick to it.
