Augusta State's women's golf team has won back-to-back tournaments this fall.
Now the Lady Jaguars get a chance to show off for the home crowd when they play host to the America's Choice Mortgage Lady Jaguar Invitational this week at Forest Hills Golf Club.
The 36-hole tournament will be held Monday and Tuesday.
Augusta State won the Taco Bell Intercollegiate and the Ross Resorts Invitational in recent weeks. In both events, the team rallied from eight shots down to Georgia State on the final day to get the wins.
Georgia State is not entered in this week's event, but the 13-team field includes a number of Division I schools. Arkansas State, Birmingham-Southern, East Tennessee State, Elon, Florida International, Florida State, Jacksonville State, James Madison, Notre Dame, Richmond, Western Carolina and Wyoming join the host team in the field.
Augusta State freshman Emilie Geury shot rounds of 75, 70 and 74 at the Ross Resorts event to win her first collegiate event. Geury placed second in the Taco Bell event the week before.
Garrett Phillips, Amanda Smith, Lauren Smith and Kristen Bragg round out the rest of the squad for Augusta State.
Teams will begin preparations for the tournament today with practice rounds beginning at 8 a.m. A college-am is set for this afternoon at 1.
Maryland swept the team and individual honors in the 2004 event as Katie Stepanek shot two rounds of 76 for the win.
