South Carolina athletic department to use on-line service

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The University of South Carolina has partnered with Paciolan Systems Inc. to bring its ticket operations for athletic events on-line.

The school's board of trustees approved the agreement, the school announced Friday.

The deal will let the school's athletic ticket office offer renewals, season and single-game tickets by using the Internet.

The new system "allows us to implement state-of-the-art ticketing technology, giving our fans the ability to order tickets on-line at their discretion and, in the process, making our operation much more efficient," said South Carolina executive associate athletic director Kevin O'Connell.

South Carolina manager of ticket operations Kent Hegenauer says the system will let customers do things like transfer tickets on-line and print tickets at home. A bar code will be on each ticket scanned at venue gates, Hegenauer said, which should cut down on counterfeiting and give an accurate attendance count.
