Hal Sutton won the 1998 tournament at East Lake, Phil Mickelson took the 2000 title and Vijay Singh won in 2002. ... Woods won the 1999 tournament at Champions in Houston. ... Chad Campbell won in 2003 at Champions to become the first player to make the event his first victory. ... Mickelson, No. 3 on the money list, is skipping the tournament. ... The Tommy Bahama Challenge is Monday and Tuesday at Grayhawk in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Greg Norman's Franklin Templeton Shootout is next weekend at Tiburon in Naples, Fla.

LAST YEAR: Fred Funk won for the first time since the 1988 tournament, birdieing the final hole for a one-stroke victory over Ryan Palmer.

Notes: The tournament, postponed because of Hurricane Katrina, is the final event for players to secure spots in the top 125 on the money list, the cutoff for 2006 tour cards. Rocco Mediate is 120th at $637,450, followed by Kent Jones ($629,944), Craig Parry ($629,887), Tommy Armour III ($629,803), Nick Price ($626,736), Briny Baird ($617,621), Champions Tour rookie Loren Roberts ($610,330), Nick Watney ($605,369), Michael Allen ($591,829) and Hunter Mahan ($589,567). ... Funk is skipping his title defense to play in the Tour Championship.

LAST YEAR: Annika Sorenstam won the event for the fourth straight year to match Laura Davies' LPGA Tour record for consecutive victories in a tournament. Davies won the Standard Register Ping from 1994-97. Sorenstam, a nine-stroke winner for the second straight year, had a 22-under 194 total - two off her tour-record 2003 mark at Seta.

LAST WEEK: Jee Young Lee became the fourth consecutive South Korean player to win the country's lone LPGA Tour event, beating compatriot Mi-Hyun Kim and Carin Koch by three strokes in the CJ Nine Bridges Classic. Lee was making her first LPGA Tour start.

NOTES: Sorenstam has eight LPGA Tour victories this year and also won a European tour event in Sweden. She has 64 career LPGA Tour victories. ... Paula Creamer won the Masters Ladies two weeks ago for her second victory in two starts this year in Japan. The 19-year-old Creamer also is a two-time winner on the LPGA Tour. ... The 78-player field features 43 LPGA Tour players and 35 Japan LPGA players. ... The Tournament of Champions is next week in Mobile, Ala., followed by the season-ending ADT Championship.
