HICKORY, N.C. - Mr. Leroy Griffin Jr. "Pop", 73, Hickory, died October 3, 2005 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. He was born March 2, 1932 to the late Lilly Smithy Griffin and Lee Roy Griffin, Sr. He was the husband of Margaret White Griffin. Mr. Griffin was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ, was employed by Duke Power Nuclear and was a member of the Graniteville Jaycees. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel United Church of Christ with Pastor Melissa Wike officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Griffin, Robby Hicks, Heath Griffin, Gene Lindsay, Durwood Jones and John Thomas. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church. Survivors include his wife, Margaret White Griffin, of the home; two sons, Ricky Griffin, Warrenville, SC and Ray Griffin, North Augusta, SC; two step-sons, Johnny Huffman, Hickory and Randy Huffman, Lenoir; one sister, Joretta Jones, Merritt Island, Fla.; two brothers, David Griffin, Aiken, SC and Ellis Griffin, Warrenville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
