Ceremony at Y

An opening ceremony for the new Clear Channel House Family Y, 1147 Georgia Ave., North Augusta, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10. Call 279-2323.

Cajun dinner

Millbrook Baptist Church, 176 E. Pine Log Road, Aiken, will hold a Louisiana Cajun dinner and prayer service at 5 p.m. today. Dinner will be served in the church gymnasium from 5 to 6:45 p.m. The prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. in the worship center.

The menu includes chicken gumbo, red beans and rice, coleslaw, bread, banana pudding, chocolate pudding, tea and lemonade. Takeout orders will be available.

Dinners are $4 for adults and $2 for children 10 and younger. Donations will be accepted for South Carolina Baptist Convention Disaster Relief to help victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Disabilities board

Aiken County Board of Disabilities will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday at 1016 Vaucluse Road, Aiken.

Arts fundraiser

The Aiken Center for the Arts will hold its annual fundraiser, A Taste of Wine and Art, from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the arts center, 122 Laurens St. S.W.

The event will feature signature dishes from area restaurants and 100 wines from 36 producers. The cost is $45.

Wild turkey banquet

The Aiken National Wild Turkey Federation Chapter Banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Aiken County Shrine Club, U.S. Highway 1, Aiken. The cost is $50 per person or $80 for couples. For more information, call 641-1242 or 649-9996.

Garden meeting

The Horse Creek Valley Gardening Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Aiken County Career and Technology Center, 2455 Jefferson Davis Highway, Warrenville; with guest speaker Tom Brandner. Call 593-7300.

Heritage Jubilee

The Heritage Jubilee will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, and 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Edgefield Soccer Field Complex, U.S. Highway 25, Business District Road.

The free event will feature a cook-off, Brasstyme Band, Jimbo Durham on Friday, arts, crafts, carnival rides, an ugly dog contest, a car and motorcycle show, bingo and helicopter rides for a fee. Call 637-3393.

Colonial Times

Colonial Times, a Day to Remember, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, and 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Living History Park, Spring Grove and Lake avenues, North Augusta.

The free event will feature potters, blacksmiths, silversmiths and meat smoking. Visit www.colonialtimes.us.

Club to meet

Brothers and Sisters of Aiken County meets from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays at Aiken County Recreation Center, U.S. Highway 1 in Graniteville. The meetings, led by Addie Ross, include guest speakers, field trips and games.

Go volunteer

Stitches From the Heart is seeking volunteers to knit, crochet blankets, sweaters and hats for children in the hospital. Donations of yarn also will be appreciated. For more information, call (866) 472-6903.
