Man shot in home invasion
A 30-year-old Augusta man who was shot during a home invasion Saturday night remained in the hospital Sunday, according to officials.
Charles Owens, of the 1500 block of Koger Road, was in good condition at Medical College of Georgia Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Mr. Owens was returning home just after 10 p.m. Saturday when he was attacked by two men and shot with a small-caliber handgun, according to police.
He was shot four times - on both arms and both legs - according to Richmond County Sheriff's Investigator Dan Carrier.
No arrests had been made in the case Sunday.
Man fires gun after asking for the time
An Augusta man told police another man who initially asked him for the time of day fired a gun at him.
The man told police he was entering Community Grocery, at 940 13th Ave. The other man pointed to his wrist, then pulled out a gun after being given the time.
The victim said he ran inside the store, but the man shot once through a glass door and then fled, a Richmond County sheriff's report says.
Man robbed, struck in face on Walton Way
An Augusta man said he was robbed Saturday evening by three men while he walked on Walton Way.
The man said he was walking near 10th Street when a man approached him and struck him in the face with a lead pipe.
One of the men snatched $45 from the victim's pocket and stomped on his chest, a Richmond County sheriff's report says.
The incident happened at about 9:30 p.m., police said.
The victim was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital, the report says.
On Sunday, a hospital spokeswoman said he had been released.
Patrol car damaged outside nightclub
A Richmond County sheriff's patrol car was damaged while parked at an Augusta nightclub Saturday night or early Sunday .
The 2000 model Ford Crown Victoria had several scratches, a Richmond County sheriff's report stated.
The car was driven by Deputy Darrell G. Turner, who was working a special duty patrol at Coconuts, 1082 Bertram Road.
Police said the damage occurred between 10 p.m. Saturday and 2:45 a.m. Sunday.
Intruders take money from elderly woman
A 61-year-old woman told police she was the victim of a home invasion late Saturday.
Sallie Bradford, who lives in the 1200 block of Miller Street, said three men entered her home at about 11:25 p.m. One of the men kicked in her back door and another man, who wore a red bandana, pointed a gun at her and said, "Give me your money."
An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from her purse, a police report says.
Two of the men wore black masks, Ms. Bradford said.
