BRUNSWICK, Ga. - Benjamin Reid Hixon, 46, died unexpectedly Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome, Ga. Ben was born in Augusta, Ga. and lived there most of his life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Montine E. Hixon. For the past several years, he worked for The Salvation Army in Brunswick. Prior to that, he was employed by the City of Augusta Water Works Department as a certified technician. Survivors include his son, Benjamin Justin (BJ) Hixon of Hephzibah; his father and step-mother, Walter and Charlotte Hixon of Savannah; brother and sister- in-law, Robbie and Valerie Hixon of Augusta; sisters and brothers- in-law, Kathy and Lynwood Allred of Asheboro, N.C., Dee and Doug Parkes of Summerfield, N.C.; step-brother, Hal Willis of St. Petersberg, Fla.; step-sister, Debbie Willis of Savannah; step-sister and step-brother-in-law, Brenda and Bud Huggins of Hemingway, S.C.; uncle and aunt, Jack and Frances Hixon of North Augusta, S.C.; aunt and uncle, Martha Ethel and Al Meyers of San Antonio, Texas; aunt, Jackie Greene of Augusta; and many other family members. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, October 1, at 11:00 in the mausoleum chapel at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Augusta. The family will be available following the service for visitation. The joy of Ben's life was his son. He loved BJ above all else.
